return-of-the-jedi-1983-t7208
Return Of The Jedi (1983)

It was almost called Revenge of the Jedi. That was the title for most of the production, and early posters were even printed with it, until George Lucas changed it a few months before release, reasoning that a true Jedi would never seek revenge.

Return of the Jedi closed the original trilogy in style: Jabba's palace, the speeder bike chase through the forests of Endor, the Ewoks, the second Death Star and, at last, Darth Vader's redemption. It was the biggest film of 1983.

This Advance British Quad is pure anticipation. Vader's helmet looms out of a blood-red sky above Luke and his father locked in their final duel, with just "The Saga Continues" and "In Your Galaxy Soon" to tease what was coming. Look at the copyright line in the lower margin: "© Lucasfilm Ltd. 1982". It was printed the year before the film opened.

Advance posters were printed in far smaller numbers than the main release and were usually thrown away once the regular posters arrived. An unfolded 1983 Advance British Quad is a rare survivor, and one of the most striking pieces of Star Wars artwork made for British cinemas.

Year: 1983

Nationality: United Kingdom

Condition: Unfolded

Type: Original Advance British Quad

Size: 30 x 40 inches

Product Code: T7208

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0268/4118/6384/files/Return_Of_The_Jedi_1983_BQ_T7208_v4.png?v=1793575238
