And God Created Woman (1957)

This was one of two different Quads produced for the UK first release by Miracle Films & importantly carries the "Sex Kitten" reference which was to become synonymous with Ms Bardot & enter the wider lexicon. The silk-screened poster presents a sultry image of a topless Bardot set against a lurid dark pink background - an eye-catching design! Rated "X" certificate by the BBFC, the film became a cause celebre in the UK & helped popularise the idea of French women as being cosmopolitan, liberal & sexy. The alternative Quad was actually for the same film but issued with another title, "And Woman....Was Created", both certified on 20th Feb 1957. It is possible that the Publicity Manager of Miracle (Tony Tensor) was in two minds about how to market the film but the "Sex Kitten - And God Created Woman" version is that which predominated & is now best known.

Poster folded, uncensored, in excellent overall condition & looks unused (the white line mid right is NOT a tear but an original print fault where the paper was slightly creased & the silk-screen ink didn't adhere). A scarce poster, an important piece of Bardot memorabilia & a significant 1950's film.
