Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid (1969)

Original One Sheet (27 X 41 Inches)
£2,175.00

This is the Style B poster which depicts one of the best known closing scenes in film history. One of the greatest "buddy" movies ever, this is the story of two outlaws, Butch (Paul Newman) and Sundance (Robert Redford), during the declining days of the Old West, who find that civilisation is coming to even the far reaches of the country. They hit on the idea of relocating to Bolivia, but will they make it in time before the law catches up with them? An enormously popular film, due, in large part, to the extraordinary chemistry between Newman and Redford, the picture won four Oscars and set a record - maintained to this day - for the most BAFTAs ever won by a single movie (it took home nine). This exceptional one sheet depicts the film's tragic ending - a "freeze frame" in a sepia tone shot of the pair exiting the house rapidly firing their guns. We hear a voice shouting "Fuego!!" (Spanish for "Fire!!"), and then the sound of dozens of rifles being fired in three consecutive volleys which leaves little doubt to their outcome.
