Great Escape, The (2019R)
Park Circus and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer have partnered with the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, the Royal Air Force's leading welfare charity, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of The Great Escape. The Great Escape with Dan Snow took place at the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith on Sunday 24 March 2019, exactly 75 years to the day since the iconic Second World War breakout. The evening featured a one-hour live show of music and conversation hosted by the historian and television presenter, streamed to hundreds of cinemas nationwide, followed by a 4K screening of the classic 1963 film.
UK Quad cinema poster for the 75th anniversary of the March 1944 mass escape featured in the classic WWII film "The Great Escape" (1963) starring Steve McQueen, this bespoke poster created for a "one-off" live event at the Apollo Hammersmith 24th March 2019.
With a narration by historian Dan Snow, this screening was also simultaneously broadcast in a limited number of other cinemas. The print run for this poster was therefore strictly limited, there being no nationwide distribution involved. The poster was printed single-sided, befitting of the small print run. Although relatively modern, this poster is nonetheless scarce. Unklike the original 1963 UK Quad poster the poster eschews detail but focuses on one of the pivotal scenes in the film, featuring McQueen on the motorbike. This poster is already a sought after piece but offers great value being a fraction of the price of the '63 original.
