Star Wars (1977)
Original US one sheet (27 X 41 Inches)
£11,995.00
A year after Star Wars opened, some cinemas had simply never stopped showing it. No one had seen a first run like it, and the film's language had already passed into daily speech. Even the word Wookiee was a happy accident, borrowed by George Lucas from a line ad-libbed by an actor on his earlier film, THX 1138.
This One Sheet was issued to those few cinemas still playing the film in 1978, which accounts for its great scarcity. Long-time Star Wars poster experts believe only 250 to 500 were printed, though no one can confirm the figure with certainty. It hardly ever surfaces, and this linen-backed example ranks among the most elusive of all original Star Wars posters.
