A Night at the Opera (1935), released in France as Une nuit à l'Opéra, is widely regarded as the Marx Brothers' greatest cinematic achievement. After leaving Paramount, the brothers moved to MGM, where producer Irving Thalberg refined their chaotic style by adding a romantic subplot and higher production values.
The film contains some of the most famous comedy sequences in history, including the legendary "stateroom scene," where an impossibly large number of people are crammed into a tiny cabin.
