Sharon Stone as Catherine Tramell, cigarette in hand, in the police interrogation room that made her one of the most talked-about actresses in the world. Paul Verhoeven's thriller turned a single scene into a piece of cinema folklore.
Joe Eszterhas sold the script for a then-record $3 million, and a string of leading actresses reportedly passed on the part before Stone took it. She earned a Golden Globe nomination, and film noir gained one of its great modern femme fatales.
