Die Hard (1988)

Original British Quad (30 X 40 Inches)
£875.00

"Yippee-ki-yay..." One barefoot New York cop, one skyscraper and a gang of very well-dressed thieves on Christmas Eve: Die Hard rewrote the rules of the action film.

The novel it was based on was a sequel to a Frank Sinatra film, so the role was first offered to Sinatra, then in his seventies. Bruce Willis, best known for the TV comedy Moonlighting, got it instead and became a film star overnight. It was also Alan Rickman's first feature film, and when Hans Gruber falls from Nakatomi Plaza, that look of shock is real: the stunt team let go a split second earlier than he'd been told.

Willis's battered face looms over the tower erupting in flames, a helicopter circling, finished off with the UK 18 certificate and a brilliantly British tagline: "40 storeys high, with suspense, excitement and adventure on every level!"

Never folded, which is rare for a 1988 British Quad, this is the original UK release poster for one of the most influential action films ever made.
