For Your Eyes Only (1981)
Original British Quad
This was the twelfth in the James Bond series produced by Eon Productions, and the fifth to star Roger Moore as James Bond. The film marked John Glen's directorial film debut, and the first of five Bond films that he went on to direct.
The poster’s artwork, created by artist Bill Gold, is immediately recognizable. The composition features a pair of women's legs in the foreground, with Bond, gun in hand, positioned between them. This daring, somewhat provocative design was both attention-grabbing and reflective of Bond's persona. It has since become one of the most memorable and talked-about Bond posters.
Unlike today's digitally rendered movie posters, For Your Eyes Only was created during an era when hand-painted designs were standard in film marketing. The quality and style of the illustration capture the unique charm and craftsmanship of early '80s movie art, making the poster a collector's item and a nostalgic piece.
Given that these posters were originally meant for theatre display, and sent folded with the film reels from the distributors to the cinemas, finding one in UNFOLDED/ROLLED condition is a real bonus!
