Live Aid: The Global Jukebox (1985)
Original Live Aid 1985 poster (24"x 36") with poster design by Steve Maher.
This "Global Jukebox" poster design is far scarcer & more sought after than the alternative design by Peter Blake. Bob Geldof's "Live Aid" charity concert held on 13th July 1985, was an iconic 80's event, being held both at Wembley & in the US in Philadelphia. The event featured a host of acts with particular standout performances by both Queen & U2.
All the acts taking part are listed on the poster including David Bowie, Elton John, The Who, Paul McCartney, Wham, Black Sabbath, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Madonna, Page & Plant etc.
The original poster for the Live Aid was designed by Steve Maher based on the idea of Bob Geldof. The logo depicts a stylized silhouette of the African continent as the body of a guitar. The wordmark is arranged in two lines aligned to the I’s, and integrated into the guitar’s neck. Live Aid was a benefit concert held on Saturday 13 July 1985. The event was held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London, UK, attended by about 72,000 people, and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, US, attended by 89,484 people.
