The third film in the original Star Wars trilogy, RETURN OF THE JEDI was originally planned to be released as REVENGE OF THE JEDI, before George Lucas famously changed the title because Jedi are not supposed to be vengeful.

A very small number of undated advance posters were initially printed, whilst a second run of dated examples like this one was later sold directly to fans shortly before the film’s release. Because the title was ultimately changed, these posters became instant collector’s items and remain among the most sought-after pieces for serious Star Wars fans.

Featuring dramatic artwork by Drew Struzan, the design depicts Darth Vader locked in his climactic lightsaber duel with Luke Skywalker.
