Star Wars (1977)

The word Wookiee existed before Chewbacca did. During the recording of THX 1138, George Lucas's first feature, the actor Terry McGovern improvised the line "I think I just ran over a Wookiee". Lucas kept the word in mind for years, and found a use for it in Star Wars.

For Tom Jung's Style A One Sheet, the artist used his own son as the model for Luke, snapping Polaroids of the boy holding an empty paper towel roll aloft in place of a lightsaber. For many moviegoers in 1977, this was their first sight of the main characters. This rare example has been tri-folded only.
