As the studio’s first animated film released after Walt Disney’s death, The Aristocats signalled a new, more playful direction, embracing jazz, modern character animation, and a distinctly European flair. The still captures the famous “jam session” sequence, with a quartet of streetwise alley cats gathered around a piano in a cluttered Parisian attic. Each cat plays a different instrument, piano, bass, guitar, and percussion, while others lounge or dance amid the lively chaos.
