While Kaa sings the smooth, lullaby-like "Trust in Me," he's actually just preparing to have Mowgli for dinner. It’s a perfect mix of creepy and funny that only Disney could pull off.
This film was a huge turning point for Disney. It was the last movie Walt Disney personally oversaw before he passed away, and he wanted it to be all about fun and personality. It famously ditched the serious tone of the original book for a jazzy, upbeat vibe that made everyone fall in love with the characters.
