The Party (1968) - FRAMED
Original Front-of-House Card.
This 1968 original UK FOH card is from the dinner-table sequence in The Party, moments before Peter Sellers’ character, Hrundi V. Bakshi, causes the chaos that leads to the roast chicken being launched and landing in the woman’s elaborate hairpiece. The humour is classic Blake Edwards: slow build, polite restraint, then sudden, perfectly timed absurdity.
That impending disaster is exactly what gives this image its charm. The calm before one of the film’s most memorable visual jokes, and a textbook example of Sellers’ physical comedy at its finest.
A cult classic of late-1960s cinema, The Party is renowned for its elegant physical comedy, satirical take on Hollywood excess, and timeless visual gags. Original front-of-house cards are increasingly scarce and highly collectible, prized for their bold imagery and direct connection to theatrical exhibition history.
