The Party (1968)

Directed by Blake Edwards and starring Peter Sellers, the movie is celebrated for its highly experimental approach, relying heavily on improvisation and elaborate visual gags rather than a dense script. It also notably pioneered the use of "video assist" technology, allowing the director and actors to review scenes immediately on set, a process that revolutionised comedic timing and eventually became a standard practice throughout Hollywood.
 
Here, we see Hrundi V. Bakshi (Peter Sellers) sharing a joyful moment at the dinner table. This scene captures the lighter, more human side of the evening before Bakshi’s well-intentioned blunders inevitably lead to the total mayhem that destroys the mansion.
