Thunderbirds Are Go (1966)
An outstanding original UK quad for Gerry Anderson’s Thunderbirds Are Go (1966), the first feature-length cinematic outing of the iconic Supermarionation heroes. Designed with vibrant artwork showcasing Thunderbird 1, 2, and 3 in full flight, alongside portraits of the Tracy brothers, Lady Penelope, Parker, and Brains, this poster perfectly captures the futuristic excitement that defined the series.
Thunderbirds wasn’t just a children’s show, it was a groundbreaking cultural phenomenon. With its innovative Supermarionation puppetry, Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s creation influenced generations of filmmakers and became a defining part of 1960s British pop culture. The film expanded the Thunderbirds universe onto the big screen, cementing International Rescue in the public imagination. Today, Thunderbirds endures as a nostalgic touchstone, beloved by collectors, sci-fi enthusiasts, and fans of classic British television.
A rare and colourful piece that celebrates both the magic of Anderson’s vision and the golden age of 1960s cinema posters.
Of the two designs of British quad that were produced for the first release of this iconic movie, this is by far the rarer and more sought after version. In this puppet adventure, the crime fighters known as the International Rescue team, led by the heroic Jeff Tracy (Peter Dyneley) and his equally brave sons, are managing security during the launching of the first manned flight to Mars. Jeff and the boys foil some crooks who want to sabotage the mission, and the craft takes off successfully. But later, as the astronauts try to return to Earth, they encounter grave technical difficulties, and the Rescue team must fly into space to save them.
When the launch of a mission to Mars goes awry due to sabotage, International Rescue is requested to assist in the mission's second attempt.
