You Only Live Twice (1967)

Roald Dahl had never written a film script when the Bond producers came calling. A friend of Ian Fleming, he kept little more than the title, a few characters and the Japanese setting of the novel, and invented the rest: the hollow volcano, the rockets swallowing spacecraft, the whole glorious conceit. Sean Connery announced during filming that he was leaving the role, though he would be tempted back twice.

Art by Frank McCarthy and Robert McGinnis. The campaign ran to three British Quad designs, and this one, the Style C bathtub, is the most sought after. A little risqué for its day, it has become the version true Bond aficionados hold out for, and this copy has been linen-backed.
