You Only Live Twice (1967)

Original US 1 Sheet (27 X 41 Inches)
£1,595.00

This was the fifth James Bond film produced by Eon Productions. It was directed by Lewis Gilbert, in the first of three Bond films that he would direct for Eon Productions. The screenplay for the film was written by Roald Dahl, and is vaguely based on Ian Fleming's 1964 novel. During filming it was announced that Sean Connery would retire from playing Bond, although he did make a come back in "Diamonds Are Forever" in 1971 and Never Say Never Again in 1983.

The advertising department for the film's release created three different posters, featuring Sean Connery in the bathtub (surrounded by girls), Connery with the famous Little Nelly flying machine, and Connery inside the volcano. Of the three different styles produced for the film, the "Style-A"- 'Volcano Lair' is perhaps the most explosive and action-packed with Frank McCarthy's illustration of a 'cool', calm, tuxedo-dressed Bond striding sideways along the walls of Blofeld's volcano headquarters, keeping his cool in a chaotic landscape featuring explosions, rockets and machine-gun equipped helicopters all around him.

Die-hard 007 fans won't want to miss this 1967 US One Sheet from the fifth film in the Bond series, set in Japan and the first to reveal arch-villain Blofeld, played with devilish zeal by Donald Pleasence. In Ian Fleming's novel, Blofeld's hideout was a seaside castle, but for the film it was changed to a raging volcano, thus inspiring this fantastic poster with Sean Connery in top form.
