Scarface (1983)
An original 1983 Universal Pictures US Advance One Sheet, unfolded.
Before the famous split-design campaign appeared, Universal teased Scarface with this: just PACINO, a brooding close-up, and the words "Coming Soon from Universal Pictures". At the time Pacino's name alone was the selling point. Nobody yet knew that Tony Montana would become his most imitated role, or that the film would grow into a cornerstone of hip-hop culture and 1980s cinema.
Advance posters went up in cinemas weeks ahead of release and came down as soon as the main campaign arrived, so they were printed in smaller numbers and saw only a short life. It's a moody, painterly portrait that looks nothing like the more familiar designs, and an unfolded copy is a real find for Scarface collectors.
