Godfather, The (1972)
An original 1972 UK One Sheet, professionally linen-backed and ready to frame.
Few films have left a mark like The Godfather. It made "an offer he can't refuse" part of everyday language, turned Marlon Brando back into a legend and Al Pacino into a star, and became the blueprint for every crime saga since, from Goodfellas to The Sopranos. More than fifty years on, it still tops greatest-film lists around the world.
This is the poster that introduced it to British audiences in 1972. One Sheets like this were sent to cinemas across the UK and the Commonwealth, displayed in foyer frames for the length of the run, then returned or thrown away to make room for the next film. Very few were kept, and surviving first-release copies are now genuinely scarce.
The British "red face" design is the one collectors want above all others: Brando's profile emerging from the dark says everything about power, menace and family without showing a single scene. A cornerstone piece for any serious collection, and one of the great film posters of the 1970s.
