The film was the true account and epic depiction of the revolt of the Arabs against the Ottoman empire during World War I. Peter O'Toole established himself as a major star in the lead role of Lawrence and the rest of the cast was just as brilliant, including Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn, and newcomer Omar Sharif. The film has long since transcended into legend as one of the most important films ever made, inspiring other directors such as Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.
