Pickup (1951)
“They gave her a bad name — and she lived up to it!”
An exceptional original poster for Pickup (1951), a searing low-budget noir directed by and starring Hugo Haas alongside the smoldering Beverly Michaels. Designed to entice, this one sheet features classic pulp-style artwork, with Michaels depicted in femme fatale mode — cigarette hanging from her lips, eyes narrowed, and danger close behind.
Released by Columbia Pictures, Pickup is a taut, morally murky noir tale, and this original poster captures every ounce of its lurid appeal. With bold typography, saturated colour, and melodramatic taglines (“Murder was her mistake… marrying her was his!”), this piece is pure 1950s exploitation marketing at its best.
This is the rare "They Gave Her a Bad Name!" alternate tagline one sheet that is much more scarce than the other style one sheet.
