Godfather Part II, The (1974)
An original 1974 US Advance One Sheet, professionally linen-backed.
Sequels weren't supposed to be this good. The Godfather Part II became the first sequel ever to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, and many argue it surpasses the original. Robert De Niro won an Oscar for playing the young Vito Corleone, and Pacino's Michael became one of cinema's great tragic figures.
This advance poster announced the film with just a few words: Part II was coming for Christmas. Advance posters went up months ahead of release and were swapped out and discarded as soon as the main campaign arrived, so they were printed in small numbers and few survived. This is the rarest poster from the film.
In vivid yellow on black, with Pacino's Michael now standing as the Don, it's also the boldest design of the whole campaign, and a real prize for any Godfather collector.
