Sex Pistols - God Save The Queen (1977)

Original British Quad (30 X 40 Inches)
£6,500.00

Iconic poster with artwork by Jamie Reid for the single, God Save the Queen, released to coincide with the Queen's silver jubilee. These were used to promote the single on hoardings and in record stores in 1977 during the short lived glory days of the Sex Pistols. Few have survived and they have now soared in value (anarchists would be horrified by such capitalist betrayal). N.B. This actually measures 27.25" x 38.5" which is the correct size (they were never the standard 30x40 quad size).

Original UK promotional poster for the 7 inch single, art by Jamie Reed, bastardisation of Cecil Beaton photo from 1977 promoting punk rock band The Sex Pistols’ single “God Save the Queen”, which was included on their album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols.

This artwork was designed by British artist Jamie Reid, who collaborated with The Sex Pistols several times and often incorporated anarchist themes into his designs. Highly regarded as the most recognisable and memorable image of the punk era, Reid’s design features a monochromatic, defaced image of Queen Elizabeth II (from an original photograph by Cecil Beaton) with cutout letters forming the song title pasted over her eyes and mouth. Totally original and unrestored in very good rolled (as issued) condition. A true investment grade piece of original highly collectable extremely scarce rock n roll punk memorabilia.
