Batman (1966)
Released at the height of Batmania, Batman brought the phenomenally successful television incarnation of the Caped Crusader to the big screen, starring Adam West and Burt Ward alongside Lee Meriwether, Cesar Romero, Burgess Meredith and Frank Gorshin. The film became the first full-length theatrical feature devoted to Batman, helping cement the colourful, camp and instantly recognisable 1960s interpretation of the character in popular culture.
More than half a century later, Batman has become one of the most enduring characters in global popular culture, while the 1966 incarnation remains completely distinctive. With its fabulous Grinsson artwork and enormous 47 x 63 inch scale, this is a particularly striking piece of comic-book, Pop Art and cinema history.
