Cinema Paradiso (1988)

A beautiful original British Quad for Giuseppe Tornatore’s much-loved celebration of cinema, featuring Alfredo and the young Toto at the heart of the design, surrounded by images recalling Toto’s childhood and his lifelong love affair with the movies. The filmstrip design is particularly fitting for a story about the magic of the cinema itself.

Set in a small Sicilian town, Cinema Paradiso follows Toto’s friendship with local projectionist Alfredo and the profound influence the village cinema has on his life. With its unforgettable Ennio Morricone score, the film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and has become one of the most cherished films about cinema, memory, friendship and nostalgia.
