Dr. No (1962)
The 1970's re-release Italian poster for "Dr. No" is the only campaign to feature Ursula Andress as Honey Rider in her iconic white bikini, and this is what makes this poster so desirable. The moment in which Andress emerges from the sea in the white bikini has been cited amongst the greatest moments in film and one of its most erotic. Ursula Andress in her white bikini was voted "The Ultimate Bikini Goddess". Andress said that she owed her career to that white bikini, remarking, "This bikini made me into a success. As a result of starring in Dr. No as the first Bond girl, I was given the freedom to take my pick of future roles and to become financially independent." Andress auctioned the bikini through Christie's auction house in London, selling it for £35,000 in 2001. In the first James Bond film, we get all the signature elements that make the 007 series so enjoyable: the exotic locales, the license to kill, the evil SPECTRE organization, ubiquitous martinis, "Bond" women, and fast cars. Sean Connery sets the style for the suave, thrilling British secret agent, along with Joseph Wiseman as Dr. No, the first evil mastermind to cross paths with Bond, and Swiss bombshell Ursula Andress as bikini-clad Honey Rider. To this day, the posters for the James Bond series are some of the most collectible in the hobby!
