Dr. No (1968R)

Double Crown (20 X 30 Inches)
£975.00

When Bond first enters Dr. No's lair, Goya's portrait of the Duke of Wellington sits on an easel. The real painting had been stolen from the National Gallery in 1961 and was still missing, and audiences of 1962 understood the joke at once. Production designer Ken Adam painted the copy himself in a matter of days.

A rare format, this 1968 re-release British Double Crown carries Mitchell Hooks's painting, the first image of Bond, and Joseph Caroff's 007 logo, used with modifications ever since. It is linen-backed.
