Historical accuracy aside, The Great Escape is one of the best World War II drama films, with an extraordinary ensemble cast to boot. The credits read like a who's who of talent: Steve McQueen, James Garner, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, David McCallum, Richard Attenborough, and Donald Pleasence, who had actually been a POW in a German camp the last year of World War II. It is believed that this particular international version was meant for a 1970s re-release as this poster lacks the United Artists' logo and printer's mark.
