Pretty Woman (1990) - FRAMED

Photo Still (8 X 10 Inches)
£345.00

Original 1990 Touchstone Pictures Publicity/Photo Still.

Stamped on the reverse with photographer’s credit and with the Touchstone Pictures studio copyright stamp.

Julia Roberts as Vivian Ward and Richard Gere as Edward Lewis share an intimate dinner in Edward’s hotel suite, facing each other over a game of chess by candlelight. It’s a beautifully lit moment: Vivian leans in with a playful smile and a can of Diet Coke at her elbow, while Edward, sleeves rolled up and tie loosened, is clearly enjoying being outplayed. The whole film is in this one image, the polished businessman slowly falling for the woman who refuses to be impressed.

Pretty Woman started life as a dark drama called 3000, before director Garry Marshall turned it into the fairy tale everyone remembers. It became one of the biggest hits of 1990 and of Touchstone’s history, turned Julia Roberts into a superstar overnight, and won her a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination. More than thirty years on, it’s still the romantic comedy all others are measured against.

This is a genuine studio photograph, with the original “Photo by Ron Batzdorff” photographer’s credit stamp on the reverse, together with the Touchstone Pictures copyright stamp. Ron Batzdorff was the film’s stills photographer. Stills like this were made to promote the film to the press, not to survive, and this one is framed and ready to hang.
