Scarface (1983)

An original 1983 Universal Pictures UK Publicity Still #854-34A, unframed.

Elvira Hancock (Michelle Pfeiffer) in her silk slip, poised and aloof among the bottles and flowers of Tony's mansion. Married to the man with everything, she is already bored, lonely and trapped in a gilded cage.

Pfeiffer's Elvira became the template for the screen "ice queen" and one of the defining looks of the 1980s. This still was issued for the British release, with a printed caption noting distribution by United International Pictures. Publicity Stills like this were sent out to newspapers, magazines and cinemas to promote the film. They were working tools, used and thrown away, so originals with the studio caption and still number are a genuine piece of the film's history.
