Oscar-nominated in the Best Original Song category for George and Ira Gershwin's "They Can't Take That Away from Me" and remembered for the spectacular dance number on roller skates, Shall We Dance marked the seventh RKO musical collaboration between Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. It's considered one of the duo's best performances with such classic musical numbers as "They All Laughed" and "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" written by the Gershwins, coupled with wonderful direction by Mark Sandrich.
