Some Like It Hot (1959)

Original Photo Still.

Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis, transformed into Daphne and Josephine, stretch out at opposite ends of an ornate chaise longue in this wonderfully playful publicity photograph. A fabulous double portrait capturing the comic chemistry at the heart of Billy Wilder’s classic, with a United Artists credit stamp on the reverse.

Wilder turned a story of two musicians hiding from gangsters into a gloriously subversive comedy about desire, identity and the absurdity of sexual conventions. Lemmon and Curtis’s performances made Daphne and Josephine unforgettable giving this photograph an appeal that goes well beyond the film’s famous Marilyn Monroe images.
