The Godfather (1972) - FRAMED
An original 1972 Paramount Pictures US Front-of-House Card, framed with UV-protective glazing.
Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando), cigar in hand and rose in his lapel, sits in the shadows of his study as a supplicant leans in to whisper his request. It's the opening of The Godfather: on his daughter's wedding day, no Sicilian can refuse a favour, and the Don receives a line of visitors.
Widely considered one of the greatest films ever made, The Godfather blended Shakespearean family drama with the brutal poetry of organised crime, and Brando's measured calm became the archetype of the modern screen gangster. Mini Lobby Cards like this were displayed in cinema foyers on release and rarely kept afterwards, and this pose remains the most desirable image from the set.
