The Godfather (1972) - FRAMED
An original 1972 Australian Daybill, linen-backed and framed, ready to hang.
The Godfather turned Mario Puzo's bestselling novel into one of the most influential films ever made, and its look was born on the book's cover. S. Neil Fujita's puppeteer's-hand logo was kept for the film, a rare move for a studio at the time, and it became one of the most recognisable title designs in cinema history.
The Daybill is a format unique to Australia: long and narrow, made for tight cinema foyers, and printed locally in small runs. Daybills were pinned up, taken down and thrown away film after film, and very few from major 1970s releases survive in good condition.
Paired with the celebrated "red face" artwork, this is a striking and unusual way to own the film, and its slim proportions make it perfect for a hallway or narrow wall.
