On the day of his daughter's wedding, Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) holds court in his dark office. His godson, the fading singer Johnny Fontane (Al Martino), clutches his hands, desperate because a Hollywood studio boss won't give him a star-making role.
Moments later, Vito slaps him, tells him to act like a man, and promises to make the studio boss an offer he can't refuse. It's the setup to the film's most quoted line. Issued for the film's German release as Der Pate.
