The Godfather / Der Pate (1972)

An original Paramount Pictures German Lobby Card, distributed by Cinema International Corporation, unframed.

Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando), wrapped in heavy shadow, his hands moving in the darkness in front of him: the quiet, calculating puppet master, echoing the famous logo in the corner.

Cinematographer Gordon Willis lit Brando from above so his eyes sank into darkness, making the Don impossible to read. That look became one of the film's signatures and earned Willis the nickname "the Prince of Darkness". Issued for the film's German Der Pate release.
