The War Lover (1962)
Photo Still (8 X 10 Inches)
£450.00
Original 1962 Columbia Pictures in b&w publicity photograph #GN06.09.26.WL1.
Capturing Steve McQueen riding a motorcycle off set during the making of The War Lover. Filmed in England across locations like Bovingdon Airfield and Shepperton Studios, the image captures McQueen stepping away from his role as Captain Buzz Rickson to indulge his famous real life passion for motorcycles.
Culturally, this candid action shot perfectly distills his authentic, thrill-seeking "King of Cool" persona, directly foreshadowing the legendary motorcycle sequences he would immortalise just a year later in The Great Escape.
