Top Gun (1986)
"I feel the need... the need for speed!" Top Gun made Tom Cruise the biggest star in the world and set the style of a decade: aviators, leather bomber jackets and beach volleyball.
It was the highest-grossing film of 1986, Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" won the Oscar for Best Original Song, and Ray-Ban aviator sales took off after Maverick put them on. The US Navy even set up recruitment desks in cinemas. Thirty-six years later, Top Gun: Maverick became the biggest hit of Cruise's career.
The design has three F-14 Tomcats screaming into a blazing sunset, Cruise in his patched flight jacket, Kelly McGillis as Charlie, the winged Top Gun logo and the tagline "Up there with the best of the best."
Unfolded British Quads from the 1980s are rare, and this one is very clean, its sunset colours still strong.
