Quadrophenia (1979)

Front-of-House (8 X 10 Inches)
£125.00

Original UK 1979 hard-stock World-Northal export-only Front of House Card.

Stripped of the kinetic energy and tribal safety of the mob seen in previous imagery, Phil Daniels’ Jimmy is framed in total isolation, crouched on the desolate shingle of Brighton beach. Engulfed by his oversized M-51 fishtail parka, his disheveled appearance and thousand-yard stare perfectly physicalize the collapse of his adolescent illusions. Produced exclusively for overseas theatrical promotion, these export lobby cards were issued in limited numbers and are considerably scarcer than standard UK publicity material.

Pete Townshend’s original 1973 rock opera was explicitly designed to map the psychological fracturing of a young man crushed by societal expectations, using the titular concept of "quadrophenia" to represent four distinct, warring facets of Jimmy's personality. By presenting youth rebellion not merely as a fashion choice or a generational rite of passage, but as a desperate, chemically fueled coping mechanism for deep-seated depression and identity crisis, the film completely transcends its specific 1960s setting.
