Produced exclusively for overseas theatrical promotion, these export lobby cards were issued in limited numbers and are considerably scarcer than standard UK publicity material.
The climactic seaside clashes depicted in Quadrophenia are rooted in the infamous, real-life "Bank Holiday Riots" of 1964, where thousands of rival Mods and Rockers descended upon sleepy Southern coastal towns like Brighton, Margate, and Clacton. The resulting skirmishes sparked a massive, nationwide "moral panic," fueled by sensationalized tabloid headlines that painted the youth as a feral, existential threat to British society.
