Tightly framed on Phil Daniels’ Jimmy and Leslie Ash’s Steph, the composition contrasts Jimmy’s naive, almost hopeful smirk with Steph’s cooler, deeply detached, and guarded stare. It is a striking visual encapsulation of their fiercely asymmetrical dynamic. Divorced from the protective armor of his oversized parka and the loud distraction of his scooter, Jimmy is laid bare here. Produced exclusively for overseas theatrical promotion, these export lobby cards were issued in limited numbers and are considerably scarcer than standard UK publicity material.

While Jimmy treats the Mod subculture as a totalising, existential religion—the sole framework keeping his fractured psyche intact—Steph represents the much broader, historical reality of the "weekend Mod." For the vast majority of 1960s youth, these tribal affiliations weren't a permanent, life-or-death identity, but rather a thrilling, temporary weekend costume.
