Breathless basically blew the rules up. Godard made it feel fast, loose, and kind of reckless, with jump cuts, street shooting, and characters who didn’t care about being likable. It turned cool detachment into a whole attitude and helped kick off the French New Wave as something raw, modern, and very anti–old Hollywood.
This still shows Jean Seberg as Patricia in a quiet, close moment. It’s very Breathless: casual, intimate, and slightly detached, where emotions are there, but never spelled out.
