A stunning 1980s French re-release poster featuring Roger Soubie’s beautifully stylised artwork of Sue Lyon as Lolita, with her unmistakable red heart-shaped sunglasses. The wonderfully minimal design, soft pastel colours and bold red LOLITA lettering make this an exceptionally elegant and decorative piece of French cinema art.
Directed by Stanley Kubrick and based on Vladimir Nabokov’s celebrated and controversial novel, Lolita remains one of the defining films of the early 1960s. The image of Lolita in heart-shaped sunglasses became one of the most recognisable images in cinema advertising. Interestingly, the heart-shaped glasses were created for the publicity campaign rather than actually worn in the film.
