Batman (1989)
Original US Advance one sheet (27 X 41 Inches)
£295.00
An original 1989 US Advance One Sheet, unfolded.
No title, no faces, just the gold Bat emblem on black. Warner Bros. bet the whole teaser campaign on a single logo, and it worked: by the summer of 1989 that emblem was everywhere, from cinema foyers to T-shirts, and "Batmania" was the marketing story of the year.
It was also the moment Batman grew up on screen. After two decades of the camp 1960s image, Tim Burton's film, with Michael Keaton in the cowl and Jack Nicholson as the Joker, made the character dark, gothic and serious again. This teaser is where it all started, and it remains one of the cleanest, most graphic movie posters of its era.
