Italian Job, The (1999R)
An original 1999 British Quad from the BFI's 30th anniversary re-release of The Italian Job. Double-sided and rolled, never folded.
Thirty years after Charlie Croker and his crew first went after the Italians' gold, the British Film Institute brought The Italian Job back to selected cinemas, which says a lot about how firmly the film had lodged itself in the national imagination. Michael Caine stars as the newly released con with one big job in mind, alongside Noël Coward's imperious Mr Bridger and Benny Hill's eccentric Professor Peach. It all builds to that famous red, white and blue Mini Cooper getaway through Turin, and a cliffhanger ending that is still being debated today.
This quad puts the Minis front and centre, and for many fans they are the real stars of the film. Printed on good-quality double-sided stock for a re-release that only reached selected cinemas, these anniversary quads are hard to find today, especially rolled. It's a great way to own a slice of Italian Job history and makes a brilliant companion piece to an original 1969 poster.
